Coaching has become a mainstream approach for developing today's best leaders. At its heart, it is about change and action. We achieve this through focused learning and by building a partnership based on the desire to achieve increased and sustainable effectiveness. Coaching raises self-awareness and identifies the choices and actions that will close the gap between potential and performance. These changes and actions are not universal across leaders and teams. They are unique to the individual, the team and to organizations. Coaching must consider a "whole-systems" approach in order to create lasting change. Without it, the change and action may be sustainable for the leader or team but not the organization or the organization but not its individuals.
